About Us

The Story of an African American Journey

Since 1994, Black Wall Street has strengthened communities and collaborated with various organizations seeking to foster economic empowerment and Advocacy to rebuild vibrant African American communities through business

Black Wall Street Nevada is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that is part of a global network of independently owned organizations that serve as one of the nation’s largest African American Civil Rights and advocacy organizations.

2012 - 2024

Black Wall Street Las Vegas District was established by Derwin Whitmore, MBA in 2012. As the first District President, Derwin Whitmore, identified the Historic Westside as the location for the new district, established the original board of directors, and oversaw the district implementation process. After serving as a member of the Black Wall Street USA Regional Advisory Board for the Southwest Region, Derwin Whitmore was appointed to Nevada State Director, and the Black Wall Street Nevada Corporation was established as a nonprofit organization. Due to internal differences, Black Wall Street Nevada disassociated itself from Black Wall Street USA but continues to serve the Southern Nevada Community.

Our Vision

The vision of Black Wall Street Southern Nevada is to build an economically independent Black community where financial stability and entrepreneurial success are accessible to all. Their focus is on creating a future where Black businesses flourish, personal wealth is built, and the community thrives collectively. By cultivating an ecosystem of shared resources, cooperative ownership, and economic empowerment, the organization envisions a future where the Black community in Nevada achieves self-reliance and resilience against systemic economic challenges. Their goal is long-lasting prosperity and equitable access to opportunities for every community member.

The mission of Black Wall Street Southern Nevada is to create a thriving and self-sustaining Black community in Nevada through financial education, business support, and cooperative economics. By offering resources like financial literacy workshops, small business certification programs, and community outreach, they aim to empower Black individuals and businesses. The organization seeks to restore the legacy of Black Wall Street by fostering generational wealth, reducing economic disparities, and enabling long-term sustainability through collaborative efforts.
